Zakat al-Fitr (also known as Fitrana) is a form of charity given in the form of food before the Eid prayer and before Ramadan ends, purely for the sake of Allah. It is obligatory for every self-supporting adult Muslim who has surplus food beyond their needs, and it must be given on behalf of themselves and their dependants.
