When a child is born, it is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to offer a livestock sacrifice and distribute the meat among family, friends, and those in need. This practice is known as Aqiqah, and it holds great virtue in Islam.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed Aqiqah for his two beloved grandsons, Imam al-Hasan and Imam al-Husain (peace be upon them).
